European Defence Contractor needed a secure way to build a new military messaging backbone for a NATO Broadcast and Ship to Shore (BRASS) Enhancement One (EO) High Frequency (HF) communications solution. The challenge was to combine the structure of P772 military messaging with the simplicity of SMTP email while enforcing high-assurance cyber security policies for messages carried over SMTP. Deep Secure was selected to provide the security component.

Deep Secure implemented Deep Secure Mail Guards to filter military message content with granular policies, including sender/recipient checks, file type and content inspection, signature, encryption, and precedence validation. The solution also provided assured separation, application-layer proxying, and deep content inspection to help block protocol-based and hidden attacks. As a result, the European Defence Contractor can offer a standards-based, secure messaging backbone for ship-to-shore and ship-to-ship communications, with the solution rolling out across the fleet.
