College department gets hit by ransomware and seeks Deep Instinct to help prevent the next attack

A college based in North America with over 90,000 students was hit by a devastating ransomware attack that encrypted and destroyed more than 2,000 documents. After their traditional antivirus failed to stop the attack, the college sought out Deep Instinct to find a comprehensive solution capable of preventing the next wave of ransomware and other advanced threats.

Deep Instinct implemented its Threat Prevention Platform, which uses deep learning to prevent threats before they execute. The solution immediately proved its value by detecting 705 malicious campaigns missed by their existing antivirus. Crucially, Deep Instinct prevented a new ransomware attack (GrandCrab) in real-time, saving 59 endpoints and an estimated 236 IT working hours that would have been spent on re-imaging machines.
