Canadian National Institute for the Blind enables accessible travel booking in 1 year with Deem

The Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) faced the challenge of providing truly accessible corporate travel booking for its blind and low-vision employees. Existing online booking tools were not accessible, requiring staff to rely on travel managers for assistance and creating an inequity. CNIB partnered with the vendor Deem to implement its accessible online booking tool to resolve this.

Deem provided a solution with an award-winning, accessible interface compliant with WCAG 2.0 guidelines, enabling employees to book travel independently for the first time using screen readers. The results included a new level of confidence and independence for travelers, streamlined expense system integration, and the unexpected benefit of automatic ticket exchanges. CNIB was highly pleased with the solution Deem provided and is considering expanding its use to the wider blind community.
