A DecideAct Case Study

Preview of the Samkaup Case Study

How supermarket giant Samkaup (Coop) made it fun for employees to execute strategy

Samkaup, a major grocery retail chain in Iceland, faced the challenge of involving its 1,400 employees across 60 stores in a cohesive strategy execution effort. The goal was to shift the company culture and engage all levels of management to release the firm's growth potential. To tackle this, they turned to the vendor DecideAct and its enterprise solution.

DecideAct initially implemented a beta version of its platform with Samkaup's executive team. This was later expanded using the full software version to include all second-level and store managers. The solution provided a governance structure that enabled clear communication and created much greater transparency and oversight across the entire organization. According to CEO Ómar Valdimarsson, a key benefit was that store managers and employees felt a sense of ownership over the goals, which made them much more motivated to successfully implement the company's strategy.
