Swiss Re, one of the world’s largest reinsurance providers, needed a way to use sensitive data for analytics and machine learning without exposing it in the process. The company was exploring how to protect critical information such as PII and other confidential datasets while still gaining actionable insights, and partnered with Decentriq to evaluate confidential computing built on Intel® Software Guard Extensions (Intel® SGX).

Decentriq implemented a proof of concept using its confidential computing platform to protect data in use inside hardware-based trusted execution environments. The solution helped Swiss Re explore secure analytics on sensitive marine insurance and other risk data while maintaining privacy and data sovereignty. The case study highlights improved protection for collaborative data use and machine learning, though no specific quantitative results or measurable business impact were provided.
