Raytheon, a major defence industry missions systems integrator in Australia, needed a lean, highly targeted leadership development program for middle managers and technical leaders during a period of budget pressure, regional competition and economic uncertainty. The company wanted a program that used its own leadership competencies, supported self-assessment, built a succession talent pool, and strengthened authentic leadership and retention. Raytheon engaged DeakinCo. to design this leadership development program.
DeakinCo. built the solution from Raytheon’s leadership competencies and a 360-degree feedback survey, combining an engage day, three three-day off-sites over a year, tailored development plans, action learning projects, mentoring, coaching and an online learning portal. The pilot was very well received by participants, and its success led Raytheon’s leadership team to begin discussions with DeakinCo. about delivering second and third program intakes.
