Port of Melbourne Corporation, which manages Australia’s largest container and general cargo port, needed an easy-to-absorb online induction program for thousands of visiting contractors working in a diverse, sensitive, and potentially hazardous environment. DeakinCo. was engaged to help deliver a solution that would ensure contractors could quickly access critical information and meet safety and compliance requirements.

DeakinCo. developed the Online Contractor Induction Series, a web-based learning program supported by the Prime Online Manager learning management system. The solution included 10 modules, interactive learner checks, quizzes, and an animated Harbour Master character to improve engagement; a pilot of the core modules found most participants thought the content was easy to understand and the activities were relevant, helping validate the program’s effectiveness.
