CPA Australia partnered with DeakinCo. to enhance learner engagement in its Global Strategy and Leadership (GSL) capstone subject. Seeking a more effective way to help distance-learning students apply strategic and leadership concepts to real-world situations, CPA Australia needed a more immersive and innovative learning experience than traditional study materials could provide.

DeakinCo. designed and developed a simulated learning experience built around a fictional hotel-group scenario, featuring video, interactive accounting activities, personalized performance results, messaging with a fictional manager, and an intranet-style resource hub. The solution was heavily customized using the open-source Adap framework and xAPI for live reporting and analysis, and it delivered strong results: CPA Australia reported marked improvement in learner engagement and understanding, while students gave the experience an average score of 4.5 stars and praised its practical, real-life approach.
