A DDN Case Study
TGen, the Translational Genomics Research Institute, needed to scale storage performance and capacity to keep up with rapidly growing genomics data and concurrent alignment jobs. Its legacy NAS system was underpowered, caused performance drops during file-intensive workloads, and was becoming too expensive and difficult to expand.
DDN implemented an EXAScaler™ file storage solution built on DDN SFA storage and the Lustre® file system, integrated with high-performance compute infrastructure at ASU A2C2. The result was the removal of bottlenecks, faster full genome alignments—even remotely over a 10 Gb link—and a scalable pay-as-you-grow platform that could expand to petabytes while lowering capacity costs.
