National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) - Customer Case Study

The National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) needed to replace a legacy storage platform that couldn’t keep up with massive genomics datasets from oral cancer research, causing performance bottlenecks, failed jobs, and even data loss. Working with DDN, NIBMG sought a high-performance, scalable solution to support next-gen sequencing, HPC analysis, backup, and collaboration.

DDN implemented an end-to-end storage environment using DDN SFA12K, GRIDScaler, WOS object storage, and DirectMon management. The result was significantly faster data ingest and analysis, with NIBMG able to run twice as many concurrent jobs, process data for about 40 samples at once, and reduce project timelines from up to a year to roughly three-to-four months, helping accelerate discoveries in oral cancer research.
