A DDN Case Study
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, one of the nation’s largest sheriff’s offices, needed to replace an aging, tape-based video surveillance system that was unreliable, hard to scale, and too slow to retrieve footage from. Working with DDN and Sierra Detention Systems, the agency sought a more reliable, user-friendly, high-performance platform to support thousands of cameras and rapidly growing surveillance data needs.
DDN helped deliver a modern, integrated surveillance solution with high-performance storage, enabling the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to capture and retain HD video at 15 frames per second for at least 60 days. The new system made footage access about 10x faster, allowed retrieval of 12 hours of HD video in 17 minutes, expanded coverage from 89% to 100% across six facilities, and improved compliance with PREA while reducing litigation risk and saving taxpayer dollars.
