DCSL Software Helps Accelerate Digital Health Innovation at Smith & Nephew with Dashboards That Interpret Surgical Procedural Data

Smith & Nephew, the British medical device company, needed a way to turn complex surgical robot procedural data into easy-to-use dashboards that surgeons could understand and act on. Through an Innovate UK-backed digital health project, Smith & Nephew worked with DCSL Software Ltd to investigate prototype software for future commercial use, with a focus on secure, cloud-ready analytics.

DCSL Software Ltd built beta web dashboards and a companion mobile app that collate surgical case log files, extract analytics, and present key findings in a clear visual format. The beta software was completed ahead of schedule, helping Smith & Nephew meet project goals and opening the door to possible machine learning enhancements, while improving its ability to interpret data to support better efficiency and outcomes in the operating room.
