Hotpoint deploys Standby for near-zero data loss

Hotpoint Appliances Ltd., a major retailer and wholesaler in Africa, faced a challenge with its outdated, homegrown disaster recovery solution. The in-house system provided poor recovery time and recovery point objectives, posing a significant risk to its 24/7 operations. To address this, they partnered with vendor Dbvisit to implement a new solution.

Dbvisit implemented its Standby software, which provided compatibility with Oracle Standard Edition and near real-time replication to a standby server. The solution delivered fast recovery times of under 15 minutes with almost zero data loss, greatly reducing commercial and technical risk for Hotpoint. The Dbvisit software is also easily maintained by internal staff and allows for quarterly disaster recovery tests without impacting production.
