Yummy & dbt create a new standard for startups in Latin America

Yummy, a fast-growing super-app founded in 2020 and operating across six Latin American countries, needed a scalable way to unify data across four verticals after rapid expansion, an acquisition, and multiple fragmented systems. With one data modeler bottlenecking the team and analysts repeatedly rebuilding similar tables, the company turned to dbt Labs and dbt Cloud to create a single source of truth and a more self-service analytics foundation.

Using dbt Labs’ dbt platform, Yummy standardized SQL conventions, added collaborative code reviews, leveraged staging environments for safe development, and implemented dbt docs and tests to improve visibility and trust. The results were significant: five analysts were trained with no prior data engineering experience, model development became 5x more productive with dbt scheduler and staging, and model build time was reduced by 50%, helping Yummy scale analytics more efficiently across the business.
