Vivian Health, a healthcare staffing company, needed a more scalable way to power analytics, machine learning, and internal dashboards while maintaining strong data quality across a growing stack. Using dbt Cloud from dbt Labs, the data team transformed data from multiple sources into reliable models for both product recommendations and business reporting, but they also faced challenges with fragile BI-based transformations and time-consuming testing as their data footprint expanded.

dbt Labs helped Vivian standardize modeling in dbt Cloud so analysts and engineers could create and test models in SQL and Python much faster, while Metaplane provided observability across the pipeline to catch data issues before they affected downstream users. The results included a 3x increase in data pipeline contributors, 100% of data models created in dbt, and an OKR achieved around data quality, with improved reliability and less time spent on custom testing and incident resolution.
