SpotOn, a rapidly growing mobile payment processing and management software company, needed a better way to scale data across the business. As usage grew, its Postgres-based stack created slow ETL jobs, broken or delayed data, and a bottleneck for the small data engineering team. SpotOn turned to dbt Labs products, including dbt Cloud, to modernize its analytics workflow and make data more accessible across the company.

Using Snowflake, dbt Cloud, and Metaplane, SpotOn moved core modeling and reporting into a modern data stack that improved performance, collaboration, and data quality. With dbt Labs’ dbt Cloud, the team grew engineering contributors from 2 to 17, cut model-building time from days to hours, and helped reduce time to identify data issues from hours or days to seconds. Overall, SpotOn reduced time to actionable insights by 6x and saved an estimated $110,500 annually.
