Deputy, a Sydney-based HR software company, needed a better way to manage and trust its growing product and business data. As the company expanded, its Snowflake-based data setup became overly complex, poorly documented, and hard to debug, causing broken dashboards, slow turnaround times, and low confidence among internal stakeholders. dbt Labs’ dbt Cloud was brought in to help rebuild the data infrastructure and make analytics more reliable.

With dbt Labs and dbt Cloud at the center of its new stack, Deputy created a single source of truth, added freshness testing and lineage visibility, and streamlined transformations on top of Snowflake. The results were dramatic: dashboard build times dropped to about one week, debugging time fell from half a day to a couple of hours, Snowflake compute costs decreased by 20%, and internal data team NPS reached 100. Deputy also launched 26 data products in 10 months and is now exploring predictive analytics and new data-driven revenue opportunities.
