A DBmaestro Case Study
Clalbit Systems, the software development arm of one of Israel’s largest insurers, needed to perform a major rewrite of its pension-account application and a large data conversion while meeting regulatory requirements. Although ALM practices and segregated environments were in place, database artifacts posed a special challenge: DDL changes took effect immediately, causing accidental overwrites, lost work, and difficulties coordinating geographically dispersed teams. Clalbit required policy enforcement and better support for moving development between team environments without losing changes.
Clalbit implemented DBmaestro’s enforced database change management, using check-out/check-in, baselining and the TeamWork® deployment engine to version and control schema and data. Merge and integration times fell from half a day to minutes, enabling continuous merges, preserving developers’ work, improving collaboration and visibility for managers, and reducing QA time and deployment errors while supporting continuous testing and regulatory compliance.
