PSK Supermarkets (Foodtown) is a third-generation, family-run grocer operating 11 stores in New York with about 850 employees. Facing thin retail margins, PSK relied on paper timesheets and Excel for scheduling and payroll, which caused errors, poor visibility into labor costs and inefficient back-office workâso the company needed an automated, analytics-driven time, attendance and payroll solution to control labor spend and reduce errors.
PSK implemented Ceridian Dayforce HCM in phases (time and attendance in 7 months, full payroll by January 2013), gaining real-time labor visibility, automated error checking, minute-level time stamps and scheduling analytics. Results included elimination of clock-rounding costs, reduced payroll errors, a 0.5 FTE reduction in manager costs, average annual benefits of about $1.14M, a 1:6.2 cost:benefit ratio, 1688% annual ROI and a payback of roughly 1.2 months.
