A Dayforce Case Study
General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada (GDLS‑Canada), a maker of armored vehicles with about 1,400 salaried and unionized hourly employees, needed to replace a homegrown payroll system after spinning off from GM and reduce the heavy administrative burden of payroll. The company sought a reliable, compliant solution that would eliminate duplicate data entry from its timekeeping system and let payroll remain a non‑core, outsourced function.
GDLS‑Canada implemented Ceridian’s Managed Payroll and Ceridian Insync HRIS, with custom interfaces to their timekeeping vendor; the first live hourly payroll ran within five months. Ceridian now handles calculations, legislative updates, remittances and employee inquiries, while GDLS‑Canada maintains a lean payroll/HR team, faster reporting and reduced IT overhead—yielding improved productivity, mitigated compliance risk and a scalable platform for future growth and electronic pay statements.
