Costa Coffee brews up Dayforce expansion

Costa Coffee, the UK‑headquartered coffee retailer with 2,500 stores, c.10,000 express machines and 35,000 employees in over 35 countries, set an ambitious growth target after its 2018 acquisition by Coca‑Cola: to double the business and scale its workforce rapidly without losing focus on employee development and customer service. The company needed a technology partner to handle the mechanics of hiring, scheduling, pay and compliance so its people teams could focus on growing talent and maintaining service quality.

Costa partnered with Ceridian and deployed Dayforce for labor planning and workforce management, achieving 100% retail adoption and mobile access for all employees. Dayforce improved scheduling accuracy, allowed staff to update availability in real time, saved managers hours creating rosters, and delivered better work–life balance and labor efficiencies. Costa plans to extend Dayforce into payroll and core HR to consolidate systems, simplify compliance and support its rapid global expansion.
