U.S. Army demilitarizes nearly 80,000 tons of ammunition with Day & Zimmermann

The U.S. Army required a contractor to manage and operate its largest global ammunition storage and demilitarization complex, a Government-Owned Contractor-Operated (GOCO) facility. The challenge involved providing comprehensive ordnance operations, including demilitarization, storage, security, and environmental services, while maintaining a strong safety record.

Day & Zimmermann, through its company SOC, implemented a full facility management and operations (M&O) solution. This included ammunition supply, demilitarization using environmentally responsible processes, installation security, and fire services. As a result, SOC safely demilitarized nearly 80,000 tons of ammunition since 2010 while securing an area spanning over 200 square miles for the U.S. Army.
