A Davey Case Study
The customer, Weyerhaeuser Company, needed to restore a historically altered 363-acre wetland and stream mitigation site near Jacksonville, North Carolina, which was susceptible to nutrient loading and low dissolved oxygen. They engaged Davey Resource Group, a division of Davey, for comprehensive environmental design, permitting, and consultation services to address this challenge.
Davey Resource Group implemented a full-scale solution, leading all aspects from site investigation and design to construction management, planting, and monitoring. The Davey team re-established natural hydrologic and vegetative conditions, achieving a functional uplift for the streams and wetlands. This restoration created an enhanced habitat corridor for local and migratory species and provided lasting protection for the area via a conservation easement.
