Town of Cumberland, RI plants 200 trees and builds a GIS inventory with Davey

The Town of Cumberland, RI, engaged Davey Resource Group (DRG), a division of Davey Tree, to support its urban forestry initiatives. The challenge was to strategically plant new trees and create a comprehensive inventory of public trees to guide future maintenance and planning efforts.

Davey implemented a multi-phase solution that included planting hundreds of trees and conducting a detailed public tree inventory. The vendor subcontracted a landscape architect and collaborated with university students to ensure strategic planning. As a result, the town now has a GIS-based dataset to prioritize planting, plan maintenance, and budget for future care. Davey also trained the town's public works staff in proper tree planting methods.
