A Davey Case Study
The Toledo Metroparks faced a severely degraded segment of Blue Creek, which was eroded, polluted from agricultural runoff, and unable to support aquatic wildlife. To restore this ecosystem, they retained Davey Resource Group, a division of Davey, as the design-build contractor for a comprehensive stream and floodplain restoration project.
Davey and its partners developed and executed a solution that included realigning the eroded stream channel, installing in-stream habitat features, excavating the floodplain, and planting native vegetation. This work stabilized the stream, improved water quality, and enhanced habitat. The project successfully decreased sediment and nutrient loading into Blue Creek, re-establishing a healthy, functioning aquatic ecosystem for the Toledo Metroparks.
