The Nature Conservancy of Ohio restores 2,400+ feet of stream with Davey

The Nature Conservancy of Ohio selected Davey Resource Group, Inc. (DRG) to perform design and build services for a stream and wetland mitigation project at the John A. Wannemacher Nature Reserve in Miami County, OH. The challenge was to provide compensatory wetland and stream mitigation within the Upper Great Miami watershed.

Davey Resource Group designed and constructed over 2,400 linear feet of stream, restoring a channelized tributary to its historic alignment. The solution utilized bioengineered bank treatments and in-stream structures like rock riffles and log weirs. This created grade control, energy dissipation, and enhanced aquatic habitat, alongside the development of an extensive floodplain wetland system with vernal pools.
