Southeastern Electric Cooperative inspects 5,000 poles with Davey

Southeastern Electric Cooperative faced the challenge of maintaining reliable electrical service and preventing outages, which requires accurate data on the condition of their utility poles. To address this, they engaged vendor Davey, specifically the Davey Resource Group (DRG), to conduct a comprehensive pole inspection across their system.

The solution involved DRG crews performing visual and sound inspections on 5,000 poles in Atoka, OK, using a non-invasive tapping method to detect decay. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget in early 2022, identifying 346 poles for replacement. Davey's work provided Southeastern with prioritized data to plan replacements, directly reducing the risk of equipment damage and future power outages for the cooperative.
