San Diego Gas & Electric kills 272 century plants with Davey in under a month

San Diego Gas & Electric faced a challenge from fast-growing Century plants, which threatened power lines and posed wildfire risks. Their existing inspection and removal program was costly and hazardous. Davey Resource Group, a Davey Tree company, proposed a chemical eradication pilot program as a solution.

Davey implemented a targeted herbicide treatment that killed the plants efficiently, using their ResourceKeeper software for documentation and reporting. The results showed complete eradication of the treated plants, which dried out and became safer and cheaper to remove. This approach saved SDG&E significant time and budget, allowing funds to be redirected to other wildfire mitigation efforts.
