ReLeaf Michigan expands urban forestry services across 4 watersheds with Davey

The customer, ReLeaf Michigan, is a non-profit organization focused on urban forestry. Their challenge was providing small communities in Michigan and northern Indiana with the resources and expertise needed for effective community forestry management, including data, training, and volunteer tree planting initiatives. They partnered with the vendor, Davey, specifically its Davey Resource Group (DRG) division, to address this need.

Davey Resource Group implemented a comprehensive program that included urban tree canopy assessments, prioritized planting plans, and an online platform for communities with limited GIS capacity. They also conducted onsite workshops to strengthen the link between trees and water quality. This solution, funded by partners like the U.S. Forest Service and EPA, enabled ReLeaf Michigan to effectively collaborate with communities and execute volunteer tree-planting efforts. The program has been recognized in articles and conferences, successfully extending vital urban forestry services to numerous small communities.
