New Jersey Turnpike Authority advances Garden State Parkway bridge replacement with Davey, securing permits and monitoring peregrine falcons through 2018

Davey Resource Group, a division of Davey Tree, was engaged by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority to manage complex environmental permitting for the replacement of the Garden State Parkway bridge over Great Egg Harbor. The challenge involved navigating stringent state and federal regulations, protecting threatened species habitats, and securing multiple approvals to allow the critical infrastructure project to proceed.

The Davey team delivered a full suite of environmental consulting services. Their solution included wetland delineation, endangered species assessments, and the design of an alternative nesting structure for state-endangered peregrine falcons. Davey successfully obtained all necessary permits, including a USACE Section 404/10 Individual Permit and NJDEP approvals, and ensured compliance through ongoing monitoring. The project achieved its goals with approved mitigation plans and the successful relocation of the falcon family, enabling the bridge replacement to move forward.
