A Davey Case Study
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) faced community concerns after a highway modernization project on I-75 required the removal of over 2,000 mature trees. They enlisted Davey Resource Group (DRG), a division of Davey Tree, to provide Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) services to rapidly re-establish a dense vegetated buffer between the roadway and adjacent neighborhoods.
Davey implemented a three-phase solution covering design, construction, and maintenance. Their team designed the plan, installed 4,390 trees and wildflowers, and is managing a multi-year post-construction maintenance program to ensure plant survival. The project was so successful that MDOT applied the same Davey process to a subsequent phase, planting over 4,000 more trees with a five-year maintenance period.
