The Michigan Department of Natural Resources needed to restore the native habitat and biodiversity at Curtis Creek Fen, a 12-acre wetland, by controlling invasive vegetation. They contracted Davey Resource Group, Inc. for invasive species management and control services.

Davey Resource Group implemented careful spot treatments using low-pressure backpack sprayers and handwicking for cattails, while brushcutters and stump treatments targeted woody invasives. Their methods minimized disturbance to native plants and local wildlife, including threatened rattlesnakes. The project aimed to reduce invasive and woody cover by 85–90% to enhance the wetland's overall biodiversity and habitat value.
