A Davey Case Study
Davey Resource Group (DRG) assisted Liberty Utilities Co., a subsidiary of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp., with a challenge at a new solar farm in Ohio. State regulations required vegetation screening around the solar fields for visual shielding and wildlife habitat. Liberty Utilities needed to ensure compliance with these rules as part of its broader renewable energy commitments.
The solution involved DRG planting and maintaining a large vegetative buffer. In 2023, Davey planted 21,750 linear feet of trees, shrubs, and pollinator plants around the solar farm and provided ongoing maintenance and monitoring. As a result, Liberty Utilities stayed compliant with state regulations, enhanced the site's aesthetics, provided wildlife habitat, and contributed to erosion control. Davey also planned an additional 3,500 linear feet of planting for 2024.
