A Texas utility engaged Davey Resource Group (DRG), a Davey company, to perform annual inspections and restorations of its distribution poles. The utility's challenge was to maintain consistent, reliable service and stay ahead of potential outages by ensuring the structural integrity of its pole infrastructure.

The solution from Davey involved DRG crews performing visual and internal inspections to assess pole decay, followed by excavation, decay removal, and preservative treatment. They measured remaining pole strength, restoring many with steel trusses to avoid full replacement. This routine program allows DRG to inspect about 21,000 poles annually, restoring approximately 3,000 each year. Davey's work has helped the utility avoid outages through early decay identification and has led to a continued partnership for future inspections.
