Colorado State Forest Service maps 8,767 ash trees in 36 communities with Davey

In 2019, the Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) received a Landscape Scale Restoration Grant to tackle the threat of emerald ash borer (EAB), an invasive pest spreading through the state. Their challenge was to increase resources for EAB management, particularly for small and mid-sized communities, through public education, planning, and inventory. To address this, CSFS partnered with Davey Resource Group, a division of Davey.

Davey Resource Group implemented the statewide 'Your Ash is on the Line' project. The solution included conducting public ash tree inventories in 36 communities, developing an online tool for creating community EAB management plans, producing educational resources, and facilitating workshops. As a result, DRG inventoried 8,767 public ash trees and created vital, lasting resources to help Colorado communities mitigate EAB impacts and promote cross-collaboration for the urban forest's future.
