Clearway Energy manages invasive vegetation across Massachusetts solar sites in a 3-phase project with Davey

Clearway Energy faced the challenge of managing invasive woody and herbaceous vegetation underneath multiple ground-mounted solar arrays across Massachusetts. This uncontrolled growth threatened the operation and efficiency of their solar panel sites. They engaged Davey Resource Group, a division of Davey Tree, for a comprehensive invasive species control and herbicide application service.

Davey implemented a multi-year, site-specific chemical management program. The solution began with initial herbicide treatments in spring 2020, followed by fall treatments to address persistent growth. In the second year, the focus shifted to applying plant growth regulators to limit the growth of desired vegetation. This phased approach by Davey effectively controlled the invasive species, clearing and maintaining the land to support the ongoing performance of Clearway Energy's solar installations.
