City of Goshen, IN builds a 45% canopy goal by 2045 with Davey

The City of Goshen, Indiana, collaborated with Davey Resource Group (DRG) to develop a leading urban forestry program. The city needed a comprehensive management plan to meet tree canopy goals and address environmental justice and equity concerns.

Davey analyzed the city's tree inventory and used i-Tree Streets to create a management plan with ecological and economic benefit data. DRG later helped conduct a canopy assessment, which revealed 22% coverage, and assisted in creating both static and dynamic planting plans. The partnership helped Goshen establish a dedicated Environmental Resilience department, set a 45% canopy goal for 2045, and track progress using Davey’s TreeKeeper® Canopy tool.
