The City of Buffalo, Minnesota needed a comprehensive understanding of its public tree population to guide resource allocation and risk management, particularly for threats like the Emerald Ash Borer. They contracted Davey Resource Group (DRG), a division of Davey Tree, to conduct a tree inventory and create an urban forest management plan.

DRG implemented a GIS-based inventory, collecting data on approximately 8,500 public trees according to professional standards. The solution included delivering the data in the TreeKeeper® system and developing a tailored management plan with a focus on Emerald Ash Borer. Davey’s team overcame field challenges like cold weather, ensuring successful data collection to help the city better manage and promote the benefits of its urban forest.
