City of Aurora, Colorado develops an EAB plan with Davey in 2019

The City of Aurora, Colorado faced a challenge when the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) pest was discovered nearby, threatening its urban forest. To proactively manage this invasive species, the city needed a strategic plan and an estimate of ash trees on private property. They contracted with Davey Resource Group (DRG) to develop this management plan.

Davey Resource Group implemented a solution using i-Tree Eco to model the city's tree population and analyze management costs. DRG staff, partnered with the Student Conservation Association, collected field data to inform the plan. The final deliverables from Davey included a comprehensive report on the benefits of Aurora's urban forest, the science of EAB, and treatment options, plus a presentation tool for the city to use in pursuing funding and community engagement for eradication efforts.
