CenterPoint Energy restores power to 1 million customers in 48 hours with Davey

CenterPoint Energy faced a massive power outage after Hurricane Beryl hit Houston in July 2024, leaving millions without electricity amid high summer temperatures. The utility urgently needed to clear vegetation and debris from power lines to enable restoration, prompting them to call upon Davey Tree Surgery Company for storm response and utility line clearance services.

Davey quickly mobilized, deploying over 500 line clearance workers from across the country to trim trees, remove debris, and clear downed trees from infrastructure. The vendor's crews worked for weeks, with a focus on areas outside the typical right-of-way. As a result, CenterPoint restored power to 1 million customers within 48 hours and to all remaining customers by July 20. Following the initial recovery, Davey also assisted in trimming an additional 2,000 line miles to bolster grid resiliency against future storms.
