Davey Resource Group (DRG), a division of Davey, was hired by Barrow Utilities & Electric Cooperative to create a reliable connectivity model of their electrical infrastructure. The customer, a rural electric cooperative serving the northernmost community in America, needed dependable utility services to support the local economy but faced the unique environmental challenge of operating in remote Alaska.

The solution involved DRG sending a crew to perform a comprehensive inventory during the midnight sun season. Using hybrid vehicles and rugged field computers with Mapwise software, they collected data on over 1,700 poles and other assets. Davey built a connectivity model from this data, which will directly aid in outage management and engineering analysis to improve system reliability for the cooperative.
