Arcadis U.S. & PIKA International protects 105 trees with Davey during Philadelphia remediation

The customer, Arcadis U.S. & PIKA International, faced the challenge of remediating contaminated soil at the Frankford Arsenal site in Philadelphia while minimizing potential damage to the existing trees. They engaged the vendor, Davey, specifically its Davey Resource Group (DRG) division, for arborist services including a tree inventory and evaluation.

Davey Resource Group implemented a comprehensive tree protection plan. Their ISA Certified Arborist inventoried and evaluated 105 trees, assessing each for species, condition, and value. DRG employed specialized protocols like air spade excavation and soil vacuuming near preserved trees to prevent root damage and soil compaction. Through this process, a few trees were selected for removal based on condition and logistics, but the solution successfully preserved the majority of the valuable trees throughout the remediation efforts.
