A Southeast U.S. based utility serving nearly half of Florida sought a more efficient way to proactively identify overgrown vegetation along its vast network of distribution lines to improve its vegetation management strategy. Davey implemented a solution using remote sensing and high-resolution imagery to create an automated feature extraction process, which generated a detailed vegetation density layer. This enabled the utility to more efficiently strategize and prioritize its vegetation management trimming cycles, predict equipment and personnel needs, and plan the most efficient service routes to ensure reliable service for its customers.
