A Datylon Case Study
Straatvinken, a Belgian citizen science project, faces the challenge of Belgium's severe traffic congestion and its negative effects on the environment and quality of life. To track progress and advocate for change, they needed a way to measure, analyze, and publicly communicate detailed annual traffic data. They partnered with vendor Datylon to create a data visualization solution for this purpose.
Datylon designed and built a custom-tailored, fully interactive online data visualization platform. This solution translated Straatvinken's massive dataset—over 625,000 counted traffic movements—into an accessible public dashboard that displays information down to the individual street level. The results are now available to everyone, providing city officials and citizens with clear insights to monitor trends and work towards the goal of a 50/50 modal split by 2030. Datylon's work helped humanize the data, fostering a shared understanding and collective responsibility for improving street livability.
