UTEC Solves Remote/ Hybrid Work Security Concerns with Datto Secure Edge

UTEC, an Ann Arbor–based IT services provider serving primarily school districts with roughly 200 endpoints and up to a few hundred users, faced rising security and connectivity challenges as employees moved to remote and hybrid work. Home networks were more vulnerable and UTEC needed a solution that non-technical users could easily deploy, without requiring VPNs or complex Wi‑Fi credentials, while still providing secure access to mission‑critical applications.

UTEC implemented Datto Secure Edge, which lets remote staff plug in an in‑home access point that securely extends the organization’s network and is managed multi‑tenant via Datto Network Manager. The rollout was quick and simple for both UTEC and end users, reduced reliance on VPNs, preserved performance, and gave UTEC responsive vendor support and streamlined administration for ongoing add/change/delete tasks.
