Thetford Academy, a 300-student independent school on a 200-acre Vermont campus, struggled with a patchwork wireless system made from consumer-grade routers and access points that couldn’t meet student and teacher demand. IT administrator Glen Page needed a fast, reliable, campus-wide Wi‑Fi solution that fit the school’s budget.

Page deployed 25 Open Mesh dual‑band access points, hardwired across campus and managed with the CloudTrax cloud controller, plus pfSense and Untangle for firewall, filtering and device registration. The setup provides an isolated guest network and a WPA2-encrypted student/staff network, supports large numbers of simultaneous users, and significantly reduced maintenance time and costs through easy map-based provisioning; the school reports blanket coverage, few complaints, strong vendor support, and plans to expand.
