Notre Dame High School - Customer Case Study

Notre Dame High School partnered with Twin Palms to provide on‑campus international housing in Elmira, NY, but the dorms’ consumer‑grade WiFi couldn’t reliably support students — particularly those from China who needed consistent access to contact family. The IT team had no visibility into usage or ways to manage bandwidth, and expensive vendor bids drove them to seek a more affordable, easy‑to‑manage solution.

They deployed Open Mesh (a Datto company) using 10 MR1750 access points managed via CloudTrax, enabling remote configuration, no on‑site controller, and a much lower cost (one proposal was 88% higher). The rollout provided full visibility into users and applications, per‑user bandwidth limits, seamless coverage across dense construction, and two SSIDs for students and staff. The result: reliable, fair internet access that supports video calls and streaming, has become a marketing asset for recruiting international students, and offers future uses like voucher‑based guest WiFi.
