A Datto Networking Case Study
Abstract & Title is a locally owned real estate transaction services firm with seven offices around Indianapolis, operating since 1902. As more staff and customers brought personal wireless devices into the offices, IT Administrator Chris Cherry needed a budget-friendly way to provide guest Wi‑Fi while keeping the staff network and sensitive data completely separate; prior solutions required managed switches or VLANs and failed to meet his needs.
Cherry deployed an Open Mesh OM2P access point and used the CloudTrax cloud controller to create one SSID for customers (secure internet-only tunnel) and another as an extension of the private LAN, with separate DNS on each. The system was configured in about ten minutes, rolled out to the remaining offices, and is now managed remotely with a single login from a laptop or smartphone. The result is a reliable, easy-to-manage wireless service that required no extra equipment, satisfied staff and customers, and met the company’s security and budget goals.
