Bain & Company engaged DataWeave’s AI-powered Competitive Intelligence-as-a-Service to help a hotel-aggregator client analyze the global hotel and homestay property landscape and shape its expansion strategy. The core challenge was scale and diversity: data had to be collected from 21 websites across 1,200+ priority cities, with site-specific hurdles (languages, OTP logins, listing caps) and non-standardized names/addresses that made deduplicating and matching unique properties extremely difficult.

DataWeave aggregated the data, scraping over 10 million listings from the 21 sites and consolidating them into about 5.2 million unique properties across 1,200+ cities using its proprietary matching algorithm with better than 95% accuracy. DataWeave’s work produced actionable insights (site-level counts, top-city analyses, Airbnb contributing 63% of listings) and delivered measurable business impact—enabling property evaluations in under five days and supporting growth of roughly 90,000 new rooms every 90 days (about 1.1 million total)—while providing scale, reliability, 24x7 support and cost savings.
