A Datavalet Case Study

Preview of the North Carolina Case Study

In two months, Datavalet connected thousands of people in underserved communities in North Carolina to the internet, bringing Wi-Fi access across the state

The state of North Carolina faced a significant challenge when the COVID-19 pandemic forced schools online, as thousands of students in underserved areas lacked internet access. To solve this crisis, the state partnered with vendor Datavalet to provide wireless connectivity using a service combining cellular routing and managed Wi-Fi.

Datavalet implemented a large-scale solution, deploying and installing 417 Wi-Fi access points at schools, libraries, and parks across the state within a strict two-month timeline. The results were substantial, with the project successfully providing internet access that has since supported over 260,000 user sessions and transferred 27 terabytes of data, directly enabling students to attend school online.
